Usher 2010 NBA All-Star Game Commercial

I like this but it isn't as good as the ad that used Marvin Gaye. Then again Usher isn't as good an Artist as Marvin Gaye.....

KFC Teams Up With Music Icons MC Lyte and David Banner in Search of the Next Hot 'Hitmaker'

Popular KFC Hitmaker Song Contest Returns to Recognize Everyday Pride in Community

LOUISVILLE, Ky., June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Legendary lyricist MC Lyte and chart topper David Banner will add sizzle to KFC's search for the next hot musician in this year's "Hitmaker" song contest, now in its third year. All aspiring musicians are invited to submit their hottest beats to win national exposure and great prizes as part of KFC's Pride 360 program. The grand prize winner will receive a "Hitmaker" recording studio and a chance to be one of 12 artists featured on the Pride 360 CD.

Last year's contest drew 300 percent more entries than it did in the first year. This year, to demonstrate its commitment to uncovering the freshest musical talent and spice things up a bit, KFC enlisted Lyte and Banner. The two artists will help contestants and winners raise their game, said Jermaine Higgins, KFC's manager of multicultural marketing.

"MC Lyte and David Banner are two of the most respected artists in urban music, and they also stand out for their commitment to the community," Higgins said. "I'm very happy that they've added their muscle to KFC's search for up-and-coming music stars."

Musicians' songs will be heard on the Hitmaker Web site, www.KFChitmaker.com, and they will be available for download as mobile phone ring tones. KFC will donate all profits from ringtone downloads to the 'Heal the Hood Foundation', a national non-profit organization founded by Banner to support the victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

"One thing I love to do is help young musicians find their way to shine in the music business," said Banner. "That's why I'm proud to be a part of the KFC 'Hitmaker' contest."

Judged by fellow "Hitmakers and Chart Toppers"

Now through July 31, musicians coast-to-coast can enter an original song about having pride in their community. The winning songs, judged by Lyte and Banner, must express the signature themes of KFC's Pride 360 initiatives as expressed in the Pride 360 key words Individual, Family, Community and Heritage. Artists can upload their audio submissions (and artist/musician photos) at www.KFChitmaker.com or mail them by July 31 to: KFC at 1900 Colonel Sanders Lane, Louisville, KY, 40213, Attn: KFC Hitmaker. All visitors to KFC.com can vote for their favorite versions of the Pride 360 songs from August 4-18.

"There are so many talented individuals out there, and this is a great way to find them," said philanthropist and Grammy nominee MC Lyte. "I look forward to showcasing artists who can use their skill on the microphone to talk about things that are really important--family and community."

The grand prize winner and the other winners will be selected on August 31. For more information and official rules, please visit http://www.kfchitmaker.com/content/view/2/3/.

Link Be warned it has adware

Anyhow I just get an ironic kick out of the way the fast food continues to try to win the urban market by using rappers. A few decades ago Rap wasn't even given respect by the grammys and rappers boycotted the grammys as a sign of unity in their rebellion to power. Now unhealthy food companies pay rappers to lead their fans to their next heart attack. So which is worse being ignored by Marketers and Ad agencies or having companies doing everything possible to win your demographic over when all they do is sell greasy foods and other Unhealthy things?

The Most Interesting Man In The World

I like it. I takes the concept of the Chuck Norris Joke* and adds some international flavor. A mix of Castro and James Bond, these commercials make me wish they did webisodes based on the character.

* Chuck Norris doesn't do Push Ups. He pushes the earth down.

Dentyne Ice - 3 Minute Or Less

Interesting reverse psychology technique used on this site. Think about how many people are going to go to this site because they want to see what happens when your three minutes are up. Things like this should be used on Magazine sites. 5 minutes of all access then none for a few hours. The annoyance alone will make some people buy membership.

PABLO THE COKE DOG

This TV ad, created by Mother, to be used by British government-funded agency Frank as an anti-drug public service announcement is interesting to say the least. I don't think this would work in America simply because well its a dead dog talking about Cocaine.

Creepy Jean Ad

Appaently this is an old Ad but I swear i just saw it today (or maybe today was just the first time I ever paid attention). Either way it doesn't work because the ending is not so much a surprise as its just well dirty. Also while American Apparel has been gaining market shares with its use of psuedo porn billboard ads. You may have noticed American Apparel instead made Ads like the one below.

Basically Levi stop copying American Apparel. Find your own identity.

It’s Not Happening Here But It Is Happening Now

Via - Osocio

I heard about this reading Frank151 blog. Its from the Swiss department of Amnesty International. You have to respect their smart way of bringing the image home by placing the violent realities of foreign countries into people's natural surroundings. Total message intergration.

Bruce Lee Ping Pong

This is a great Viral Ad just because of how effective it is. It uses Bruce Lee in a way that plays of his role of an icon. Then it places him in his natural environment of Athletic competition. Combine these two things and you are going to create a situations where people are not going to be able to tell if this ad is based on reality or not.
